Well HELLO, March! I think a few people would say that they couldn’t be more excited to welcome spring, and while I am a full on winter lover, I am definitely in that boat this year. While this session is from February, one of the things that I am excited to share is images full of LIGHT. We had such a beautiful evening the night of Calvin & Shannon’s engagement session up at Horsetooth, and it was a wonderful reminder of the promise of longer days ahead. In the midst of all that is happening in our society with the Coronavirus right now, I hope that these images will be a reminder that there are days of sunlight ahead, and to take heart in this unique season our world is facing. β€
A Little Bit About Calvin & Shannon
I love me a good history, and these two have one! They met in AP Environmental science back in HIGHSCHOOL! There was always a mutual like, but Shannon was unavailable back then and so they were friends. In college, Shannon ended another relationship and for the first time in a long time, reached out to her high school guy friends (a little solidarity goes a long way! π ) Calvin reached responded, shortly after a date was had, and pretty much from then on they were inseparable.
A Little Bit About Their Engagement and Session
These two are bunny lovers. Animal lovers too, but they have pet rabbits as their fur babies. By the way, rabbits are really interesting. They shared a little about bunny life, I had no idea how cool rabbits are! Calvin knew that Shannon would value having the rabbits, in particular ChooChoo, involved, and so on a morning they had a dress up breakfast date planned (Shannon loves to dress up), Calvin waited with the bunnies and when she came in the room he was on one knee. She said….YES! π
For their session, we wanted to be able to have some Colorado views as well as access to twinkle lights for some night shots. Horsetooth Resevoir is the perfect spot for a Colorado engagement session, and is close to Old Town Fort Collins and the Square’s bistro lights. I loved being with these two, and can NOT wait for their big day in October!!! Cal & Shannon, you already feel like friends. Let’s get these two love bunnies married!

I have to start with my favorite shot from right as the sun was setting… And take you back to the beginning to meet…Calvin & Shannon! These two are SO easy with each other. We enjoyed all the gorgeous light! And we also laughed a lot. There was a really special moment we had. I asked Cal to tell Shannon when he decided to propose to her and that she was the one, while I slipped a ways a way. And we had some beautiful tears. It’s moments like this that I feel to privileged to have my job. And because we could we also went epic. Bunny love. It was soon time to head to Old town so we said goodbye to Horsetooth. We found the lights… And had a blast. β€
