I have to say, Darren, Afton, and I had NO idea how this engagement session was going to work out. This awesome couple was making a big ‘ol drive down from Cheyenne, WY in order to make this event happen…and then a large chance of snow hit the weather forecast. These two are TROOPERS though, and decided to keep trucking forward. I’m so glad we did, as Colorado’s fall this year has been wet, cold, and short. The colors were here and gone due to the moisture and winds. I am so incredibly glad that we got the chance to photograph the beautiful relationship between Darren & Afton before the fleeting aspens were gone!
Darren & Afton are just plain awesome…and I am so excited for their big day next summer! They met through work, and when we talked about their story it was so sweet to see how it took them both quite a bit of courage to actual make the move to talk to each other in beginning. Afton was working and living in a small town in Wyoming called Rawlins, and Darren’s mother said she knew something was up when Darren suddenly was spending quite a big of time that far north in such a tiny town. “She’s so pretty, Mom.” he would tell her! Well, it is true, Afton is beautiful, and so is the love they share! They are a blast to hang out with, and my dog lover heart was elated that we got to work with their pooch as well.
Creatively, this session was special. It’s a rare occurrence for the fog to be so dense as it was the evening of their session, and we got to be there to photograph in it! It rolled in at the very end…and honestly took my breath away. Thats a pretty special type of romantic setting to be able to work in.
Darren & Afton, I cannot wait for next June!!!
