Andy & Barbie are a Colorado wedding photographer’s creative dream, and some of the nicest people you’ll meet to boot! When Barbie emailed that they wanted to bring a couch to their Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement session, I knew immediately this session was going to be incredible. Life is busy, and creativity takes quite a bit of effort. This couple is willing to go for it to achieve what they had vision for, and that blew me away!
I also felt the value that these two have for their images, one that I share. In 50 years after their wedding day-all the decor will be long gone, guests may not be in touch anymore, and the frozen cake eaten. BUT, for their kids and grandkids, there will be images to invite them to an event that took place before their birth. To me, value for photography is also a value for heritage & legacy. I think a couple who is willing to make the long drive from 2 hours away, get a hotel for the night, and wake up BEFORE dawn for their session, and haul a couch in their car the whole way, should get a standing ovation. Did I also mention it was supposed to be below freezing type cold?! Barbie so sweetly brought toe & hand warmers not only for them, but also Steven and I. Yep, that’s how kind as well as awesome they are!
A final important note…the couch is not only cool, but also significant. Andy proposed to Barbie with his guitar on their couch. Having those items in the engagement photos is a wonderful mirror of the way that their engagement actually began.
I’d do this whole thing all over again in a heartbeat. Andy & Barbie, I am so excited for you and next June!!
